at mountain view's nasa ames research center of sharing secret technology with china. business and tech reporter scott mcgrew joins us. not the first time nasa has been accused. >> republican iowa senator chuck grassley made the same accusations in 2012 demanding answers to his allegations that some at nasa may have given away information to foreign countries that would violate america's laws against exporting technology. now, the latest version of the accusation comes from these men, lamar smith of texas, frank wolf of virginia. they are also republicans. according to the magazine "aviation week" they sent a letter to the justice department in june asking why there have been no prosecutions. in all of the cases, they name the center's director pete warden seen here. they don't specifically accuse warden himself but in grassley's letter, for instance, the senator specifically questions warden's leadership. it is hard to tell how much of this is political in other words. the very conservative "washington times" quotes federal prosecutors in northern california as saying no criminal charg

david einhorn. speaking at a goldman sachs technology conference today, cook also said apple is considering einhorn's proposal to issue preferred stock and return more money to shareholders. einhorn and his firm greenlight capital sued apple last week as part of a broader effort to push the tech giant to dole out more of its $137 billion hoard of cash. as for apple stock today, it tumbled 2.5% to about $468. just five months ago, the stock was trading at $700. meanwhile, uncle sam's cash situation is improving a little bit. the u.s. treasury posted its first monthly budget surplus since 2008, and thanks to a jump in tax revenue. it's now $2.9 billion in the black for january. that's a big improvement over the $27 billion deficit a year earlier. but despite that turnaround, lawmakers still need to make major cutbacks in order to keep government debt in check. >> susie: the group of seven industrialized nations issued a statement today saying that any stimulus programs they undertake are aimed solely at spurring domestic demand and are not an effort to weaken their currencies,

was asked when i was running a technology company before i joined the board of supervisors to show up at the city of the site of a client. that city was new orleans. this was a few weeks after hurricane katrina, which we all know will be probably the greatest civil engineering set of blunders that our country has made in our country's history. and what we all learn from hurricane katrina is what happens when we don't have a community that is prepared and a set of relationships that is ready to be hit by the big one. which leads me to the third reason why i wake up at night. the neighborhoods that i represent in the northeast not only represent the oldest neighborhoods in our city, but some of the most vulnerable. we have some of the poorest residents. half of my district are recent immigrants who are mono lingual. i have hundreds of constituents who live in buildings that contain them where they live three, four, five people in a room that might be no larger than 10 by 15 feet, in buildings that are absolutely prone to earthquake, fire, and the next major disaster. and, so, i was aske
